TE 846 - Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners

Summer 2009

Instructor: Rebecca Norman

This course focused on developmental processes, instructional practices, and assessment principles that contribute to effective learning of reading and writing. Required readings and presentations focused on addressing individual motivation differences, adapting the learning environment to accommodate differences in learning styles, and various teaching strategies to increase reading comprehension and writing skills.  Throughout the semester, we were required to conduct a case study, and write a term paper with our findings.  My case study involved using morphemes to increase reading comprehension.  Read more in my morphemic analysis term paper (PDF).

CEP 813 - Electronic Portfolios

Spring 2011

Instructor: Patrick Dickson

Displaying one's work in a portfolio is a long-standing tradition, both in the classroom and in the professional workplace. In this course, we were required to prepare an electronic portfolio on the Web.  Key portfolio elements included an invitation to the site, teaching philosophy, resume, teaching environments, and work samples. As an example for those seeking a free and easy-to-use site 'in the cloud', I prepared a portfolio using Google Sites, located here: https://sites.google.com/site/msukoski/home
